Kia Patu Village, Munda, Solomon Islands
Work in our first community site - Kia Patu Village, Munda - got underway in late 2023 with community awareness campaigns and elder consultations being undertaken across four seperate meetings. Work on a new sea wall, jetty and aquaculture facility began in February 2024 and we are currently in the process of establishing our advisory committee for the site.
Solomon Pro Fishing and Dive shop, Munda, Solomon Islands
Solomon Pro is a for-profit enterprise capitalising on the projected increase in tourism in Munda following the inauguration of an international airport in late 2023. Our shop offers stable employment, income opportunities for locals, and a diverse range of superior quality products previously unavailable in Munda. It is a co-created venture with genuine local ownership and management and ties to our Kia Patu Village site.
The Shop official opening on Friday May 3 was a huge success with lines to get into the shop continuing for most of the day. For all the latest and photos and videos from the opening day, head over to the Solomon Pro social media accounts.
